DOS Holds Meeting of New York State Appearance Enhancement Advisory Committee
Committee will discuss updating waxing regulations

ALBANY - The New York Department of State will hold a public meeting on Monday, September 24, 2012 at 10:30a.m. regarding the appearance enhancement profession, which includes licensing for nail specialty, cosmetology, waxing, natural hair styling and esthetics. The meeting will take place using videoconferencing at various locations. The public has the right to attend the meeting at any of the locations.

The Department’s Division of Licensing Services issues licenses to persons in these professions, and the State Appearance Enhancement Advisory Committee advises the Department on adoption of rules and regulations relating to this discipline. Among other topics, the Advisory Committee is convening to discuss updating of the waxing regulations. They will also be discussing the possibility of adding continuing education to license renewal requirements.
